Loss,
in life, is a teacher.
When personal losses occur one after another (a parent, a home, a lover, a
friend), the formerly solid sense of self is exposed as contingent, leading
us to question what core identity remains. Grief re-wires us, re-configures
what we experience as "self," when the beloved, familiar other disappears.
My current work is a response to losses sustained, initiating what i call
the subtraction project.
In the studio, i make objects that reflect inner gestures of subtraction.
